Cascade triggers when you cast the spell, meaning that it resolves before that spell. If you end up casting the exiled card, it will go on the stack above the spell with cascade.

Due to a recent rules change to cascade, not only do you stop exiling cards if you exile a nonland card with lesser mana value than the spell with cascade, but the resulting spell you cast must also have lesser mana value. Previously, in cases where a card's mana value differed from the resulting spell, such as with some modal double-faced cards or cards with an Adventure, you could cast a spell with a higher mana value than the exiled card.

Throes of Chaos does nothing as it resolves. All of its chaos happens before it resolves.

When a spell you cast with retrace resolves or is countered, it's put back into your graveyard. You may use the retrace ability to cast it again.

A spell's mana value is determined only by its mana cost. Ignore any alternative costs, additional costs, cost increases, or cost reductions.

Cascade triggers when you cast the spell, meaning that it resolves before that spell. If you end up casting the exiled card, it will go on the stack above the spell with cascade.

Due to a 2021 rules change to cascade, not only do you stop exiling cards if you exile a nonland card with lesser mana value than the spell with cascade, but the resulting spell you cast must also have lesser mana value. Previously, in cases where a card's mana value differed from the resulting spell, such as with some modal double-faced cards or cards with an Adventure, you could cast a spell with a higher mana value than the exiled card.

If a spell with cascade is countered, the cascade ability will still resolve normally.

If the card has {X} in its mana cost, you must choose 0 as the value of X when casting it without paying its mana cost.

If you cast a card "without paying its mana cost," you can't choose to cast it for any alternative costs. You can, however, pay additional costs. If the card has any mandatory additional costs, you must pay those to cast the card.

The mana value of a split card is determined by the combined mana cost of its two halves. If cascade allows you to cast a split card, you may cast either half but not both halves.

When the cascade ability resolves, you must exile cards. The only optional part of the ability is whether or not you cast the last card exiled.

You exile the cards face up. All players will be able to see them.

If something refers to your commander while you have two commanders, it refers to one of them of your choice. If you are instructed to perform an action on your commander (e.g. put it from the command zone into your hand due to Command Beacon), you choose one of your commanders at the time the effect happens.

If your Commander deck has two commanders, you can only include cards whose own color identities are also found in your commanders' combined color identities. If Falthis and Kediss are your commanders, your deck may contain cards with black and/or red in their color identity, but not cards with green, white, or blue.

Kediss's triggered ability will trigger if any commander you control deals combat damage to an opponent, not just your commander.

Kediss's triggered ability won't trigger if a commander you control deals combat damage to a planeswalker.

Once the game begins, your two commanders are tracked separately. If you cast one, you won't have to pay an additional {2} the first time you cast the other. A player loses the game after having been dealt 21 damage from any one of them, not from both of them combined.

The damage the commander deals as a result of Kediss's triggered ability isn't combat damage. It isn't tracked with combat damage dealt by commanders and won't cause Kediss's ability to trigger again.

To have two commanders, both must have the partner ability as the game begins. Losing the ability during the game doesn't cause either to cease to be your commander.

You can choose two commanders with partner that are the same color or colors. In Commander Draft, you can even choose two of the same commander with partner if you drafted them. If you do this, make sure you keep the number of times you've cast each from the command zone clear for "commander tax" purposes.

If the target land isn't destroyed by Sundering Eruption's effect (perhaps because the land has indestructible), its controller still gets to search for a basic land card, and creatures without flying still can't block this turn.

The effect of Sundering Eruption prevents all creatures without flying from blocking that turn, including creatures that lose flying after Sundering Eruption resolves and creatures without flying that enter the battlefield later in the turn. Creatures without flying that gain flying later in the turn will be able to block if they have flying when blockers are being declared.

The mana value of a modal double-faced card is based on the characteristics of the face that's being considered. On the stack or the battlefield, consider whichever face is up. In all other zones, consider only the front face. This is different than how the mana value of a transforming double-faced card is determined.

The mana value of a spell with spree is determined only by its mana cost (in the upper right corner of the card). It doesn't matter which modes you choose or which additional costs you pay, including any additional costs imposed by other effects.

You can't choose the same mode more than once.

You choose the modes as you cast the spell with spree. Once modes are chosen, they can't be changed.

You don't choose the new target for the spell or ability targeted with Return the Favor's second mode until Return the Favor resolves. You must change the target if possible. However, you can't change the target to an illegal target. If there are no legal targets to choose from, the target isn't changed. It doesn't matter if the original target has somehow become illegal itself.

You must choose at least one of the listed modes and pay its associated additional cost in order to cast a spell with spree.

If an effect allows you to play a land or cast a spell from among a group of cards, you may play or cast a modal double-faced card with any face that fits the criteria of that effect.

If an effect instructs a player to choose a card name, the name of either face may be chosen. If that effect or a linked ability refers to a spell with the chosen name being cast and/or a land with the chosen name being played, it considers only the chosen name, not the other face's name.

If an effect puts a double-faced card onto the battlefield, it enters with its front face up. If that front face can't be put onto the battlefield, it doesn't enter the battlefield.

In the Commander variant, a double-faced card's color identity is determined by the mana costs and mana symbols in the rules text of both faces combined. If either face has a color indicator or basic land type, those are also considered.

Players can respond only once this spell has been cast and all its costs have been paid. No one can try to interfere with the creature you sacrificed to prevent you from casting this spell.

The mana value of a modal double-faced card is based on the characteristics of the face that's being considered. On the stack and battlefield, consider whichever face is up. In all other zones, consider only the front face. This is different than how the mana value of a transforming double-faced card is determined.

The sacrificed creature's last known existence on the battlefield is checked to determine its power.

There is a single triangle icon in the top left corner of the front face. There is a double triangle icon in the top left corner of the back face.

To determine whether it is legal to play a modal double-faced card, consider only the characteristics of the face you're playing and ignore the other face's characteristics.

You must sacrifice exactly one creature to cast Kazuul's Fury; you can't cast it without sacrificing a creature, and you can't sacrifice additional creatures.

Rules

Each Connecting the Dots you control has its own set of face-down exiled cards. Connecting the Dots's last ability puts only those cards into your hand, not those of any other Connecting the Dots.

If Connecting the Dots leaves the battlefield before you activate its last ability, any cards exiled by its triggered ability remain exiled face down for the rest of the game. (You still can't look at them.) If you somehow return the same Connecting the Dots to the battlefield, it will be a different object with no connection to those face-down cards.

You can pay the cost of "discard your hand" even if your hand contains zero cards.

Furious Rise's ability has you exile only one card, no matter how many creatures with power 4 or greater you control beyond the first.

Furious Rise's effect doesn't change when you can play the exiled card. For example, if you exile a sorcery card, you can cast it only during your main phase when the stack is empty. If you exile a land card, you can't play it unless you have land plays available.

If Furious Rise leaves the battlefield before you play the most recently exiled card, you can play that card for as long as it remains exiled.

If you don't control a creature with power 4 or greater as your end step begins, Furious Rise's ability doesn't trigger. If you don't control one as the ability resolves, it has no effect. It doesn't have to be the same creature at both times, however.

Playing an exiled card causes it to leave exile. You can't play it multiple times.
